Meranti (Shorea species) is a light-to-medium hardwood from Southeast Asia, reddish-brown in colour and easy to saw, plane and join — a reliable all-rounder for structural and general work.

Moderate natural durability — best kept dry and under cover, not for ground contact unless treated.
